Google Trends

It shows us the term was searched most between December 2017 and January 2018. This means from December to January is the best time for a blog on wedding planning.

To verify the trend you should look at the trends over a long span of time, at least four to five years. If the search volume for a topic is consistently high for a particular time period each year, this means that is period when that topic spikes. Here Are the Ways to Get the Best Blog Ideas, Using Google Trends

Anyone even ones with no prior experience can comfortably use Google Trends. But this is not all you need to come up with a great topic idea for your next blog post. Here are three simple yet extremely effective ways you can use to easily produce the best ideas for your blog. These ways are very simple tricks and anyone can efficiently use them. Here is how:

Distinguish between seasonal trends and real trends

Some searches spike during a particular time period. For example, gift items are more searched around occasions like Valentine and Christmas in western countries and the USA. Likewise, ethnic wears get more searches in India during Dipawali.

This means it is important to identify seasonal trends. If you publish a blog on topics like electronic devices during Black Friday, your blog is more likely to get searched and shared. Because this time people in several countries are looking for electronic devices.

But if you have a blog dealing with several topics, it may be difficult for you to keep the track of trends for each topic.

If you manage to track when interest in a specific top tends to be high, you can post time specific blogs. This ups the odds of your blogs getting more popularity, which will eventually result in more conversions.

For example, if you have a blog providing sports gear reviews, your focus would be on more blogs around running shoes. But they will perform well is quite uncertain.  Using Google Trends can make it easy for you. Look at the image below.

Google Trends

Though the interest in running shoes remains almost steady the entire year, you will spot two spikes if you give a close look. Near the begging of August and April, the interest in running shoes is high. This means you should publish your blog post on running shoes around those months. This will get your blog more searches and likes as well. The conversion chances are also high. However, you should verify the trend to be sure. And all you need to do is expand the range of your search. For example, searching for the last year, you should search for at least four or five years. In the image below we set search duration for five years and then searched.

Google Trends

We found that people were less interested during October and December. But the interest in running shoes was significantly high at the end of July and during some part of August. This means:

–  Single spike of interest is not the trend

– Multiple spikes over a long span show real the trend

– Analysis of search trends over a long spell of time is essential to find the real trend

Figuring out seasonal trends is easy, and all you need to do is just have a keyword. Enter it into Google Trend once you have chosen a time range. Make sure you choose the time range of at least four years so that you can have the details of real trends.

Likewise, you can set the location if you want to target a specific region. Or you can go with the default setting.

Figure out the interest in a particular topic in a specific region

A keyword searched most in the USA does not mean it may also be the trend in other places. If your target audience belongs to a specific region, choose the topic getting searched more often in that particular region you are looking to target.

And it is easy. Google Trends allows you to see the interest of people in a topic in a region. Let us take a look at the image below.

Google Trends

Look at the top left corner of the image. You will see a down menu with default worldwide. You can change this, selecting from the menu a region you want to target in your blog post.  For example, if it is the Europe that is your target location, click the drop-down and select Europe.  You will have the trends of searches for the topic you entered done in all parts of Europe. You can be more specific by selecting an exact location. Here we jump to London. See what the Google Trends has to show.

Google Trends

We searched the same keyword but have changed the location as England. And the result, too, has changed. We see the interest in running shoes spikes in the last week of December and declines as the month of January nears. It is mid of Winter and people not interested in running shoes! You wonder. But it is fact, and data does not lie. This is the benefit of using Google Trends to find ideas for blogs.

Check related topics for your new blog post

Sometimes, you may not find the right topic you can use for your blog post. But you do not need to worry. Google Trends suggest you some other topics related to your search. They may be of your interest and very helpful in coming out with great ideas for your blog post. Let us understand through the example.

Google Trends

We searched for the keyword ‘WordPress’. The interest in the term was almost steady for the last five years. And so it is hard to find what is trending.

But as you scroll down, you find some suggested topics. See it from the image below where you will spot on the left some other topics quite related to the keyword you searched.

Google Trends

Related topic section tells you what people are searching for instead of WordPress. We see a steady rise in the search interest for this keyword over the last five years. As you click the keyword, you get more details.

Google Trends

You will see ups and downs in the spikes. It is difficult to decide the trend. So you should be more specific in your search. And for that, you need to get down to the related topics as we did in the image below.

Google Trends

Now you have the more specific idea you can use to write your blog post.

This is how you can best use the Google Trends to come out with a blog post idea that works. However, the tools like Google Planner which is free can also help you write a great blog post that could get more searches and likes and shares.
