Unfurling the Truth behind Latest Penguin Update!

With people waiting for next Penguin update, Oct 17,’2014 became the date to observe the roll out of the latest ‘Penguin Refresh; Penguin 3.0’ worldwide. Though, the roll out started, Google confirmed it quite later that Google has actually started rolling out its Penguin Refresh. It was clear that, it was a “refresh” but not an “update”.

Another big thing that was observed was that the refresh was slowly rolled out for weeks which were quite unusual for people, webmasters and SEO experts to expect. After few time of roll out, Pierre Far from Google confirmed the news of the roll out and said,

“On Friday (Oct 17,’2014) last week, we started rolling out a Penguin refresh affecting fewer than 1% of queries in US English search results. This refresh helps sites that have already cleaned up the web spam signals discovered in the previous Penguin iteration, and demotes sites with newly-discovered spam.

It’s a slow worldwide rollout, so you may notice it settling down over the next few weeks”.

Why Google is taking long time to release another penguin update, is Google planning for some big change in the algorithm of Penguin.

Still, there were bundles of question popping up in minds of people. Even we, were first confused as to why it has taken so long for the next update. So, we and our team of experts have waited for few days so that thing are little bit clear, and now after few days from the day roll out started, our team of experts have come up with some of the conclusion with the brain storming analysis and observation of several website and their rankings.

We are throwing light on some of the key points of Penguin Refresh has started taking place on Oct 17,’2014. First of all, it is a worldwide update that will certainly impact all the websites worldwide. Moreover, the roll out continued for weeks. The update affected less than 1% of English language queries, but it can affect more or less of other language queries. This latest ‘refresh’ demoted sites with bad links and also helped the sites that were previously hit and had cleaned up their unnatural link. One thing that is clear from this roll out is that, the affect has been uncertain for many websites.

We have found that some of the websites that were already hit by Penguin, this latest roll out was the most anticipated update. There were some websites who had cleaned up their link profiles. It means they were nuking the unnatural links and were using the disavow tools heavily in order to get rid of spam links.

It means, that the websites which were trying really hard to improve their link profiles, actually observed recovery. Similarly, there were many other retailers and business owners who got a nice recovery after Penguin 3.0.

Moreover, we also came across webmasters, who actually worked hard to improve their link profiles and expected good recovery but were still hung in the middle due to the still rolling out the update. May be the websites and the business owners need to wait till the time roll out is complete, and then maybe they can experience a recovery.

Apart from the websites that recovered, we have also found many fresh Penguin hits. More or less similar tactics have been followed in this new update as well to target the fresh hit after Penguin 3.0 update. Even our experts also support the fact that it is purely a Penguin Refresh but not an update.

Above all, interestingly, there were three things that were rolling out at the same time such as Penguin, Panda and Pirate. On Oct 17,’2014 Penguin 3.0 rolled out, the latest version of Pirate also rolled out and we can also observe Panda tremors starting late in the day on Oct 24,’2014.

We also came across some of the articles on affectivity of Google Pirate on the websites and how the rankings were affected.

Likewise other Google updates, the Google Pirate is also updated periodically. During the Pirate update roll out, the affect on websites may vary as there may be sites that may escape who have made correct and required improvements and there may be new sites that may get caught this time.
