Google: The search end here!
Google is the last word in Internet search. It is celebrating its fifteenth birthday and promises stronger growth.
Let me start this article with an interesting trivia I read in the book “The Google Story”. The founders of Google, Sergey Brin and Larry Page, approached one of the biggest Internet companies to sell ‘Google’ which was still in its nascent stage. However, the owner of the company declined, saying that it is very fast and he will not be able to show his advertisements. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise and the rest is history. Since then, Google has changed the concept of online search.
At your fingertip
Internet is an ocean of information, but it is scattered. A lot of effort has been made to organize the information on Internet. Various search engines have tried their hands at it but none have been as successful as Google. It has catalogued the Internet in an intelligent way and amazed everyone with its lighting fast speed. It is no mean feat considering the fact that Google was born in a garage and the founders had to manage with used hard disks.
Sowing the seeds
Google was conceptualized in the hallowed lands of Stanford University which has been an incubator of other companies like SUN Microsystems. Larry and Sergey initially designed it to search varsity information. However, they paid a lot of attention to the coding process right from the beginning which paved the way for Google’s success. Google algorithms are technical marvels and index the Internet in an unprecedented manner.
Technical superiority
Intelligence is always at play in Google. The company encourages its engineers to think out-of-the-box and supports them with an infrastructure of high resolution servers. Google algorithm is closely followed by companies and they try to adapt their strategies to new protocols. Google software can read the content on your website and rank it accordingly. It is also very smart and can identify and tricks to fool it.
Smart Updates
Google has a vision for the Internet. It wants to free the net from clutter. Google issues updates regularly to achieve this aim. These updates help Google to identify genuine websites and offer it to a visitor. Penguin update is the latest update from Google which focuses on informative content and discourages websites from offering stale information to readers.
Google has come a long way from Stanford University and metamorphosed into a global behemoth. Its market capitalization is close to $400 Dollars and increasing. It has acquired companies like You Tube in the past and is looking for more synergies. Google is celebrating its fifteenth birthday today and with so much money in its kitty; it is time for Google to shop around a bit!
