Google Keyword Planner- A Potent Tool 2018

In what is being seen as one of the biggest overhauls in recent times, Google has officially retired its Google keyword tools, and replaced it with new Google Keyword Planner. Google had already made an announcement to this effect in May, when it had issued a statement saying that it was working on combining the features of the Keyword Tool and Traffic Estimator into a tool called the Keyword Planner with advanced functionality.

New Interface 2018:
Google adword 2018

The new Google Keyword Planner differs sharply from the Google Keyword Tool and AdWords Traffic Estimator tools in that it functions more like a workshop for building AdWords campaign with a workflow better designed, organized and integrated.

This is what Deepti Bhatnagar, Google AdWords Product Manager had to say while announcing the launch of Google Keyword Planner, “Behind every successful AdWords campaign are well planned out keywords and ad groups.” “In the past, you may have relied on tools like the Keyword Tool and Traffic Estimator to identify new keywords and ad groups, get traffic estimates, and choose competitive bids and budgets. Over time however, we’ve heard from you that having two tools for search campaign building was cumbersome.”

“We’re constantly working to simplify the process of building campaigns, and today we’re happy to announce the launch of a new tool, Keyword Planner, which combines the functionality of the Keyword Tool and Traffic Estimator into a smooth, integrated workflow,” Bhatnagar added. “You can use Keyword Planner to find new keyword and ad group ideas, get performance estimates for them to find the bid and budget that are right for you, and then add them to your campaigns”, said the launch advisory.

Plusses and Minuses of the Google Keyword Planner

So far the reactions to the new Google Keyword Planner have been mixed, with some embracing the new functionalities offered by the Planner, while others openly critical about it and especially, regarding the fact that users can access the Planner only by logging into Google AdWords account.

Plusses

  • SEO and SEM professionals can now access search data at the level of the city with improved geographic segmentation as well as the functionality to combine geographic regions.
  • Users can get performance data by uploading up to 10,000 keywords out of their own list.
  • Also keyword Planner can display search volumes by ad group, landing page as well as a host of different categorization defined by the end user.

Minuses

  • Makes it mandatory for users to login to an AdWords account to access Keyword Planner.
  • The new Google Keyword Planner does not provide functionality related to match type data for search volume, device targeting and global vs. local monthly searches.

Also option to filter search using related search terms is also not available, although Google is apparently working on bringing the feature back.

Bonus: As “Top PPC Company India, We have best google adword experts to optimizing the usability of keyword planner & which have the professional expertise to research best-targeted keyword for any organization.

With Google expected to keep updating and improvising the Google Keyword Planner, there is hope that some of the obvious shortcomings of the new tool will be done away with to provide users with a great AdWords tool.
